happy earth day
Thirty years ago environmentalists were fearing global cooling. Today its the opposite. Will you guys please make up your minds?
As the WSJ points out, "Since 1970, carbon monoxide emissions in the U.S. are down 55%, according to the Environmental Protection Agency. Particulate emissions are down nearly 80% and sulfur dioxide emissions have been reduced by half. Lead emissions have declined more than 98%. All of this has been accomplished despite a doubling of the number of cars on the road and a near-tripling of the number of miles driven."
For certain, the Greens have done some good things for the planet. Promoting higher standards for cleaner water and air and land are all net positives. But enviro-hysteria based on unsubstantiated science by the likes of Al Gore benefits no one and the blame for America's energy dependence on Middle Eastern sources of oil rests solely on the shoulders of radical environmental groups.
$75 barrrels of oil, anyone?
